The Supreme Court ruled in 2020 that 3.25 million acres of eastern Oklahoma never legally stopped being a reservation, no matter how long the state had treated it otherwise. Roughly a million Oklahomans, including 400,000 in Tulsa, found out overnight they'd been living on a federally recognized reservation the whole time.
