Naval Oceanographic Office. U.S. Navy's oceanographic agency, based at Stennis Space Center MS. Sits within CNMOC (Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command). Mission: provide oceanographic and hydrographic intelligence to the Navy. Operates T-AGS class hydrographic survey ships (USNS Bowditch, Pathfinder, Henson, Heezen) collecting bathymetric data via multibeam sonar. Produces ocean charts, bathymetric products, water-column environmental products. Functionally adjacent to NGA/NIMA GEOINT pipeline at the coastal/maritime interface. Customer for SEAL mission-planning data given their littoral/maritime operating environment. Customer relationship with TASC during Troy's 1996-1999 tenure on SEAL-related GIS work with Rob Painter (persons.id=605).
