About Spokane

Spokane sits in the Inland Northwest, geographically and economically distinct from coastal Seattle and Portland despite being in the same state region — its economy grew out of wheat agriculture, not ports or tech. Gonzaga and Washington State's Spokane health-sciences campus now anchor a growing health-sciences and agtech cluster that has more in common with the surrounding farmland than with the coast.
